Dedicated User for Email Management

Hi. Been trying out ispconfig3 for a week so far, and so far, so good

question though, is there a way to make a user a dedicated email account admin for a specific reseller i have?

ie, my client owns host.com and he wants to have a user manage his email accounts, and nothing else.

I tried to add a user and have him manage email only (setting 0 to most of the other settings) but when the user tries to add a new domain, it won't let since domain already exist w the client owner.

This works. Most likely your manually created sys_user belongs to the wrong group.

or i can't or shouldn't use the main account to add the user? the reseller should be the one to add the user? i'll delete my user and try again later..

Hmm.. i just realized you didn't say something out of the ordinary, manually created sys_user? I followed the Debian Lenny install for ISPC3, what sys_user and group are we talking about?

I'am talking about a ispconfig sys_user (thats the name of the database table weher ispconfig login accounts are stored) and not a Linux system user.

Add a new user under System > CP user where you only enable the dashboard and email module, on the group tab of the user settings select the group of the client as default group and enable the checkbox for the same group in the group list below.

ok. I figured it out, I didn't use the CP area since it warns that it could bork everything. Apparently it's not as bad...

It works fine. But as too many poeple used these "lower level" functions to destroy their setups by changing groups of existing users, removing the admin etc., we had to add some warnings
