Default network distro

what distro do you recommend to use as a server it would have to be small its an old computer and an 8Gb disk
I'm running Ubuntu 11.10 FireFox 12

The popular server distributions are Debian and CentOS. If you are willing to possibly lose some stability, Ubuntu is not a bad choice. It uses newer packages so they might not be tested as thoroughly.
