ISPConfig 3 Mail

Ok, After spending literally over a month back and forth to HowToForge forums, I have finally gotten my main site live and loading great. The mail system never has worked at all. I finally got it working today. I am using Thunderbird to send and receive mail from my server. Firefox Thunderbird immediately recognized IMAP for my incoming mail and finally (after some tweaking) I got it to recognize the smtp server for the main domain of the site. So, I decided to add a new site and duplicated the EXACT mail settings for the working domain's mail. Now it's like I'm starting over...same problems. Mail for new domain doesn't work??? With name mx and A record structure.

Any help would be great. Thanks in advance.

PS. At least it was nice to finally see the ISPConfig welcome message in my inbox!

Are there any errors in your mail log (in the /var/log/ directory)?

Does the MX record point to the correct server?

Hi Falko,

I can post the outcome of /var/log/maillog It doesn't show much, except for the main domain that is working correctly...the few emails I have sent through the server on that domain.

I would like to say yes to the second question, as I used the ISPConfig wizard to create this, where an MX record was auto-generated. But just for fun, since its' auto-configuration didn't work, I changed it around here and there, but nothing works. Presumably it would need to point to the only server on the system? The originally working domain has MX records of hostwithsupport.com pointing to mail.hostwithsupport.com, and the new domain's ISPConfig auto generated MX record was domain.com pointing to mail.domain.com.

Funny thing is that ISPConfig also auto-generated the A record according to the correct info that I input for the new domain. I can't even get the site live. Trying to start bind showed that the A records were invalid for the new domain, yet they are identical to the original domain which is live.

/etc/init.d/named restart (or start)

dig mx yourdomain.com

show the correct server?

Did you check your DNS settings on www.intodns.com ?
