Default Skype in Fedora 15 Desktop

I'm following the desktop guide for F15 and I get to this stage

Quote:
gedit /etc/yum.repos.d/skype.repo
and I get the following warning:

Quote:
(gedit:30552): EggSMClient-WARNING **: Failed to connect to the session manager: None of the authentication protocols specified are supported

g_dbus_connection_real_closed: Remote peer vanished with error: Underlying GIOStream returned 0 bytes on an async read (g-io-error-quark, 0). Exiting.
Terminated
I've tried to create the directory myself but that hasn't helped. What is happening here?

If gedit isn't working, please try

Code:
vi /etc/yum.repos.d/skype.repo
instead. You can find a guide on using vi here: http://www.howtoforge.com/faq/12_15_en.html

Thanks. I have rolled back to F14 because I'm really not feeling the love for Gnome 3. IF they decide to allow me to customize it then I may well start to use it. But until then....

What do you think prevents one editor working over another?

gedit needs a GUI to work, and somehow it fails to "connect" to your desktop - don't know why. vi is a command line editor, it doesn't need a GUI.
