Default Subversion and Virtual Hosts

Hey guys I am a newbie when it comes to Subversion but am working on a couple of development projects. I have an existing Ubuntu 11.04 server configured with some virtual hosts in the /var/www folder. They are being accessible at the moment. My question relates to installing subversion to utilize this existing setup. Is there something I need to configure for Subversion to recognize the changes made within one of these domains?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
