Hosting server

Hello

I'm planning to put a server in datacentre to host my clients with ispconfig.

Would you recommend to put the mailserver on another server?
Or the same server?
I already have a seperate DNS server.

I'm planning to have +- 150 hosting packages.

So, what would you recommend?

That depends on the hardware, how many emails you expect, what kind of web sites you host (static vs. dynamic), etc. I think if you have a server with 8 or more GB of RAM, I'd start with the web- and mail server on the same system. If it later turns out that you need more resources, you can still increase RAM, optimize the setup, or move the mail part to another system.

I thought it would be better, separate web and separate mail server.

But i'll give it a try, web/mail server combined.

IF i'm using a seperate mailserver, do i have to use the ISPCONFIG 3 -> fetchmail module to get the mail and assign to the proper client?

I have tried this, but it doesn't work, if i connect the webmail of my client.

Does the fetchmail works in ispconfig?

Or is there any log where i can find any error connecting the external imap/pop server?

No, because you can manage remote servers with ISPConfig 3. Take a look here: http://www.howtoforge.com/installing...th-ispconfig-3

This will also work on CentOs 5.5?

It is possible to have a multiserver setup with CentOS, but the instructions are for Debian; for CentOS you will have to adjust them.
