Default xfce synaptics touchpad config

Hello,

I'm running the latest release of Xubuntu and I'm having issues configuring the Synaptics TouchPad. I would like the mouse to be a little less sensitive because each time I even get close to the pad, the mouse jumps all over the screen. When I go in and change the settings, it doesn't seem to save the settings. When I immediately go back into the settings, they're set back to the way they were before I made the changes. Is there an easier way to accomplish this?

Thanks for the help!
