Default ispconfig and webmail

I have installed ispconfig several times now playing wioth it to learn how things work. One thing I have fould it that after fololowing the instructions when i get all done everythiing works. So if I go to http://(ip address)/webmail then the mail logon comes up, but the minute I add a web site and try to go to webmail I get a 404 error. Did I miss something or is this what it should do. After doing some more thing but I can not remember the order when I try to go to webmail I bet a forbiden not allowed message so it at least is finding it again just can not get to it. Also if I send email to it i can get it using outlook so it seams to be working.
