It would be nice to see a howto of running vmware server on a headless deian server

We have something similar for VirtualBox: http://www.howtoforge.com/vboxheadle...n-lenny-server

Maybe that works for you as well?

I just saw the ubuntu howto about vbox, I wonder if this be applied to lenny?

I think so (I haven't tried), but you will have to use this line in your sources.list:
