Default Ubuntu Streaming System Audio

Hi all!
I have a question about the "Run Your Own Webradio Station With Icecast2 And Ices2" article. Instead of playing audio files, I want to stream the Ubuntu system audio -I.E. from applications, etc. Is this possible? I am on Ubuntu 10.04.
Thanks!
Ross
