Default Postfix, Dovecot CentOS5

Hi All,

Just trying to get the above setup on my VPS.

I have installed Postfix & Dovecot using yum.

Cyrus-SASL is installed also using yum.

Thing is, I cant get a connection via telnet 25 (remotely or locally)

Maybe a bit more of an insight.

I am running the above configuration on a VPS, hosting 2 domains.

According to mxtoolbox.com the SMPT is actively refusing the connection on port 25.

If i use telnet (via ssh) on my VPS using:
telnet localhost 25:
Code:
[root@vm477 ~]# telnet localhost 25
Trying 127.0.0.1...
Connected to VM477.vmhosts.co.uk (127.0.0.1).
Escape character is '^]'.
220 vm477.servtec.co.uk ESMTP Postfix
ehlo localhost
250-vm477.servtec.co.uk
250-PIPELINING
250-SIZE 10240000
250-VRFY
250-ETRN
250-AUTH PLAIN LOGIN
250-ENHANCEDSTATUSCODES
250-8BITMIME
250 DSN
^]
telnet> quit
Connection closed.
[root@vm477 ~]#
telnet mike-f.co.uk 25:
Code:
[root@vm477 ~]# telnet mike-f.co.uk 25
Trying 109.169.0.177...
telnet: connect to address 109.169.0.177: Connection refused
telnet: Unable to connect to remote host: Connection refused
tenet telfordcomputerdoctor.co.uk 25:
Code:
[root@vm477 ~]# telnet telfordcomputerdoctor.co.uk 25
Trying 109.169.0.177...
telnet: connect to address 109.169.0.177: Connection refused
telnet: Unable to connect to remote host: Connection refused
If i try to telnet remotely I get a "cant connect" error.

Why am I able to connect via localhost, but not via my website domain or remotely?

netstat -tap gives:
Code:
[root@vm477 ~]# netstat -tap

What's in /usr/lib64/sasl2/smtpd.conf (if this is a 64bit system) or /usr/lib/sasl2/smtpd.conf (if this is a 32bit system)?

Can you post your /etc/postfix/main.cf?

Which tutorial (URL) did you use to set up the system?
