Default Selected Network Configuration

Hi I've done a quick search and can't find much on this.
I selected something similar to automatic network configuration. This now stops me from connecting via putty.

Anyone know the command line to edit the setting back to 0?
btw I'm a linux newb and want to save some dosh

thanks.
