great, but if you're a total beginner, misses one or two points.
You'll need to enable debain sources:
mine looks like this (note deb-src):
basically, just add a deb-src entry for each of your entries, you're list doesn't have to look identicle to mine.
next up, install some source build tools:
apt-get install debhelper libpam-dev libcap-dev libldap2-dev libpq-dev libssl-dev po-debconf
now go ahead and complete the tutorial
also, when running dpkg after compiling, I found the file names were:
dpkg -i pure-ftpd-common_1.0.21-11.4_all.deb pure-ftpd-mysql_1.0.21-11.4_amd64.deb
dpkg -i pure-ftpd-common_1.0.21-11.4_all.deb pure-ftpd-mysql_1.0.21-11.4_i386.deb
This is if your running a 64bit AMD processor.
Just to check it's all ok:
And look for pure-ftpd under the pid column.
have fun kids, and remember, always ask for adult supervision when building from source
