Default very new to debian-linux

Guys you have been so helpful, with previous problems.
I need your expertise please.

I need to install/configure the following

Sendmail
Vs-ftpd

I have looked around at the guides on here, but none of them i can use/adapt for my needs,, so its not like i have looked. the ones on other sistes ect,i have found some but they are for more expericanced linux users and far to complecated for me.

What i need to do is install Sendmail/vsftpd(wich i have done)

Now they need to be set up/configured, this is the part where i get lost.

I need to have setup just a standard setup so they work. all of the guides on here have them installed with other things.

Sendmail needs to obvious et up so people can send/resieve mail (externaly)
and vsftpd needs to be setup so it can be used to obviously ftp into various peoples directories.

The operating system im using is debian lenny (latest stable x86), if you can sugest a guide that would be suitable please do.

thank you

Please post your /etc/vsftpd.conf.

Why do you need Sendmail? Postfix is far easier to manage, and it comes with a sendmail executable for compatibility reasons.
