Default Email server broke (FAM errors)

I've been reconfiguring my server and started getting these messages. I believe it has something to do with permissions, but not sure what. What should I do?

Code:
Apr 25 14:54:36 northernlightstechnology imapd-ssl: Failed to connect to socket /tmp/fam--
Apr 25 14:54:36 northernlightstechnology imapd-ssl: Failed to create cache file: maildirwatch (cindy@globaltrainingedge.com)
Apr 25 14:54:36 northernlightstechnology imapd-ssl: Error: Input/output error
Apr 25 14:54:36 northernlightstechnology imapd-ssl: Check for proper operation and configuration
Apr 25 14:54:36 northernlightstechnology imapd-ssl: of the File Access Monitor daemon (famd).

Ok, well somehow I managed to remove execute permissions from /etc. All I did was chmod 755 /etc and it's fixed
