Default Ubuntu 12.04 can't open Private folder with regular user

Hi all,

I have Ubuntu 12.04 LTS desktop version and on it I have root and desktop (regular user). When I try to open any "private" folder it gives me permission error. How can I add just this user so desktop is able to browse that?

TIA
