Default Ubuntu 9.10 New install

Ubuntu 9.10 New install, looking at updating system

what do recommend packages for a server that host wordpress, G2Gallery, packages like Imagemagick, gd Apache+mods, MySQL and so on

I also had a issue with readfile not showing images on live box
so any recommendations on getting readfile to work would be great

Hello. I'm a brand new user, a twenty-year Windows user with one week of karmic Koala under my belt. Help. I need to find a way to make Internet Explorer run on my system, and I just don't understand the terminal (I'm not a software guy, I'm an airplane pilot), but I absolutely need to make IE work, and cannot figure out how to do it. Is there a tutorial somewhere that I can follow without massive programming? I haven't been able to figure out Wine yet, so go slow.
Thanks.

I Think wine had Internet Explorer installed by default

Code:
apt-get install wine

Yes, it's a webhosting control panel that lets you create web sites, email accounts, databases, etc.
