not able to login to FTP server

After creating a new site I can not log in to it using an external FTP client or the internal 'Web-FTP' option, the password is not recognized. This problem seems to connected to another issue...all of my existing sites do not show any of the site information in the ISP Manager. When I reenter the data I get this error message;

This website already has 0 user(s). You cannot decrease the number of users.
This website already has 0 domain(s). You cannot decrease the number of domains.
This website already has 0 database(s). You cannot decrease the number of databases.
Invalid domain name: ""/HTML]

All of the sites on the server are still accessible to the web and work OK. I am using ISPConfig 2.2.34. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Additional info; When I go to the 'server settings' in ISP Management the settings are set to default. When I change and save them they still show default settings.

Do these sites belong to a reseller, or to the admin?
