Do you mean the usernames of the system users or the usernames of the ISPConfig users?

ISPConfig 2 uses linux system users for email and linux system users can not contain a sign. You should use ISPConfig 3 instead of ispconfig 2 which uses virtual users and the username of a email user is the email address in ispconfig 3.
