A how-to samba?

I have heard this "samba" thing.. I am looking forward to reading and practicing a tutorial from you howtoforge ?

I have found a few tutorials already after typing search in this forum. But I have very shallow understanding of the use of samba, and can I integrate it into an existing server? e.g. hardy heron server (perfect guide)..? or any other servers, how do I know which server to use to implement this samba into?

Reason I want to use samba is because it enables me to set up printing among other computers in my house that is centralized. .

Any advice? thank you.
