Server processing oodles of Spam

Hi,

I have Ubuntu Hardy and ISPConfig 3 on my server.

Recently the server has been dying due to it trying to handle over 4200 SPAM emails a second. It is not an open relay but will try to process everything that is sent to it and bounce if needed. As it still processes the junk it kills the server. Can someone with vastly superior knowledge to me help me with this?

I have read there is a way to make postfix / sendmail to drop non valid emails to stop the server processing them first. Anyone have a script I can stick in to do this?
