Unable to log in

I followed the Virtual Users And Domains With Postfix, Courier, MySQL And SquirrelMail (Fedora 10) HOWTO but I'm installing on F11 and not everything is the same so I'm not sure I've managed to get everything right.

I try:

# telnet mail.arix.com 143
a01 login tst@arix.com testpass

but I get:

a01 NO Login failed.

in /var/log/maillog I get:

Jul 25 18:31:07 janus imapd: Connection, ip=[::ffff:192.168.0.2]
Jul 25 18:31:17 janus imapd: LOGIN FAILED, user=tst@arix.com, ip=[::ffff:192.168.0.2]
Jul 25 18:31:28 janus imapd: LOGOUT, ip=[::ffff:192.168.0.2], rcvd=40, sent=330

I don't know where else to look, can anyone help me debug? I'm available on IM (see my profile here on howtoforge) and am happy to meet on IRC for a more interactive debug effort.
