Default Xfce?

Is anyone using Xfce? Heard that this is a very fast, but still comfortable desktop. I'm sick of KDE and Gnome being so damn slow...

I'm not really using it, but I tried it, and it's really, really fast! That's how a desktop should be. Don't need the billions of features of KDE that noone uses but that make it very slow...

I use Slax - http://slax.linux-live.org
Download - http://slax.linux-live.org/download.php

"SLAX is a small bootable CD containing the Linux operating system. It runs Linux directly from the CD (or USB) without installing. The Live CD described here is based on the Slackware Linux distribution and uses Unification File System (also known as unionfs), allowing read-only filesystem to behave as a writable one, saving all changes to memory."

It comes in various "flavours"

SLAX Standard Edition v 5.0.6 - 177 MB
SLAX SE is a pocket operating system providing wide colection of useful software with Xwindow system and KDE desktop environment.
SLAX KillBill Edition v 5.0.6 - 188 MB
SLAX KB is a pocket operating system with the ability to run many Windows applications natively in Linux. It contains KDE, wine, dosbox and qemu.
SLAX Server Edition v 5.0.6
SLAX SRV is a pocket operating system with many internet services ready to use. Includes DNS, DHCP, SMB, HTTP, FTP, MySQL, SMTP, POP3, IMAP, SSH.
SLAX Popcorn Edition v 5.0.6 - 104 MB
SLAX PE is a pocket operating system which fits even 128MB USB Flash Drives. It contains only XFce desktop, Mozilla Firefox, beep-XMMS, Gaim, AbiWord.
SLAX Frodo Edition v 5.0.6 - 47 MB
SLAX Frodo edition is the console base for all other SLAX releases. It doesn't contain almost anything, only full working Linux command prompt and drivers.

SLAX Popcorn Edition is the one you want. it will be a great way to test XFce and SLAX to see if you like it. XFce is a great desktop!

I would recommend Xubuntu, it's a Ubuntu-disto with Xfce instead of Gnome. I've been using the beta-version of it without any problem. The Beta-version includes Xfce 4.3, which is far more configurable than the old 4.2, and has a better file-manager (thunar instead of xffs). And despite of the beta-stage, it's extremly stable and working.
