Dreaded bounce loop error. Now that I've had some time to regroup, here's some more detail:

During the mailx <email@domain.com> portion of setup, the directories were not created automatically. I created them with maildirmake as root. I'm unsure of what permissions that the vmail folder/subfolders should have.

I figured out how to connect and send mail OUT through the SMTP server - I had thunderbird configured for SSL. I changed it to TLS (going through port 25 by default) and it worked.

Receiving mail, however, gives the following in the mail.log:

In the "mail" database, which I've tested the usename/pw for, there is a domain with my domain.com in it, there's forwarders forwarding to my email@domain.com address which exists under users.

Any thoughts? I'll keep searching the forums...

I have since added mail.REMOVED.com to the $mydestination = variable in main.cf for postfix. I have checked the dns server and it appears to be setup appropriately? No errors on start and it loads the zones files properly, and the names are resolved.

FWIW, I changed the transport table to 127.0.0.1 instead of mail.sfunk1x.com for testing, but that obviously didn't change anything. Is it required that I change that back to mail.sfunk1x.com?
