[QUOTE=Hans]I have read the installation instructions at URL
http://developer.joomla.org/ under Getting the files, which says for Installing Locally:
---
Unzip the distribution file into a directory under your web server root. If you are using the Apache web server, this is typically c:apache groupapachehtdocs on Windows and /usr/local/apache/htdocs on a POSIX system but it my vary. We are assuming you have a working web server and that you know where to put files to display on the web server.
---
At this point i do not know what to do; they say that i have to put the extracted Joombla files in /usr/local/apache/htdocs.
This is a location under your web server root.
I am using Debian, and my file-structure is different, so i am not sure.
Can anyone tell me where i should drop the files, provided by Joombla?
I am also quiet new to Mysql, can anyone tell me how to setup a Mysql database, which is needed by Joombla?
Joombla will ask for it during the installation.
PLease let me know.
Hans
