Default How Physical to Virtual Image

Hi,

I am trying to move my working ubuntu 8 LAMP server into a virtual image. That way I can I save it for later use.

Any idea how I can do this?

I have found info about the Cold Cloning tool from VMWare, but that I can not download without having an enterprise license.

Thanks

Harry

Are you using VMware? You could try to clone the physical system with dd or netcat.

Hi Falko,

I want to use VMware to run the virtual machine.

I looked at you howto with Nedcat but I need to clone my server into a virtual machine. I am not sure if that will work with Nedcat.

DD i do not know, I will search on DD

You could boot your emtpy virtual machine with Knoppix and then use netcat.
