Difference between Debian Sarge kernel update -> 64 bit & Debian Unofficial AMD64 ver
Although i have a server with 64 bit dual Xeon processors i chose for Debian Sarge 3.1 with a Linux 2.6 SMP (686) kernel 2.6.
Reason for this was that i wanted to choose for stability and also because ISPConfig did not give a full support for 64 bit.
This last item changed with the last release of ISPConfig version 2.2.0, because ISPConfig supports 64 bit with this release.
I am considering to change my kernel now to a EMT64 SMP version, which should be better for my server's architecture.
I know how to update my current kernel to a 64 bit SMP version, but when i do so what is the difference with the
Debian AMD64 unofficial version? Stability? Security updates? Other important things, maybe i do not know?
Is it worth the going or not?
Any advise/suggestion is welcome to me.
