Red face NIS in RHEL 5.0

What is NIS?, How its work?, What services we need to configure the NIS, And How to configure the NIS in RHEL 5.0.

NIS in a directory service to provide a central repository to user authentication and other system settings. Kind of Microsoft Active directory or LDAP.

Never became popular, you'd better take a look at LDAP.
