Default yum update

hi,

I have installed CentOS 5.1 but my question is why when i use yum update i see a lot of installation package which i dont want to use and update hundred of package?

update will only update packages that are already on your system if you dont want them remove the packages before you run update

But why yum update install a lot of package which i dont even select it duration installation?
