Do I add them below the line for manual entries or do I replace the ones that are there?

Should I set the priorities to be the way Google has them or the way I would have to enter them if I used ISPConfig (IPSC: 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70 or Google: 1, 5, 5, 10, 10, 10, 10)?

I'm guessing ISPConfig control panel won't recognize these?

MX 10 aspmx3.googlemail.com.

You can use the priorities the Google suggests.

That's right, they won't be shown in the ISPConfig interface.

When I do a lookup the manual entries for the mx records aren't showing up. This is how I entered them:

MX      5 alt2.aspmx.l.google.com.
MX      10 aspmx2.googlemail.com.
MX      10 aspmx3.googlemail.com.
MX      10 aspmx4.googlemail.com.
MX      10 aspmx5.googlemail.com.

Looks ok. Did you restart BIND? Any error messages (also in the logs)?

I didn't restart...I just tried and didn't get any errors:

/etc/init.d/bind9 restart
 * Stopping domain name service...
   ...done.
 * Starting domain name service...
   ...done.

This is what it says for this domain in var/log/syslog:

Mar 27 14:39:40 dns named[24650]: pri.mydomain.com:19: unknown RR type 'aspmx.l.google.com.'
Mar 27 14:39:40 dns named[24650]: zone mydomain.com/IN: loading master file pri.mydomain.com: unknown class/type

...and the manual entries knocked out the site again.

Can you post the whole zone file? This link: http://groups.google.com/group/hoste...8344ac83508832 suggests it might be a problem with a comment...

Looks ok. Does the file end with an empty line? If not, please add an empty line at the end and try to restart BIND.

I think I got it. I was adding a "." at the end of ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM. in ISPConfig. When I got rid of it, it appears to have worked. I restarted bind and it seems to be working fine.
