Question Apache web server load balance, suggestions needed.

Hi,

I'm in need of a good load balancer software to load balance my Apache web server. I need to add/remove nodes on fly. My nodes have only single IP and I can't assign any virtual IP, so following the steps of falko's howto (http://www.howtoforge.com/high_avail...apache_cluster) is not possible for me.

I've tested perlbal (http://www.danga.com/perlbal/) but I can not add/remove nodes without restarting it and this problem is also with another piece of software Pound (http://www.apsis.ch/pound/). I had also an overview of Linux virtual server project (http://www.linuxvirtualserver.org) but found it fairly complex while adding/removing nodes on fly, persistent connections.

Should I try any new software or stick with perlbal (to my info, its working fine except when updating nodes database)? Can anyone give me any suggestion in this regard? I will be highly thankful.

Regards,

Thanks Falko for the reply but as I already mentioned in my post, I'm not able to add any IP to my machine. I have already checked your HowTo's and in all, we require a shared/virtual IP, thats not possible for me.

Btw, I've found the way to load/refresh nodes DB in Perlbal on the fly and its working coool.

Regards,
