Default command or aplication to monitoring network traffic

Hi

I would like a command (or aplication) to can monitoring the network traffic and save it in a file, but I would like to only monitoring the download and upload of a p2p program . How could do it?

You could use tcpdump to a file, our go with the resource ntop.
