Which webmail interface to use in Debian Sarge
Hy.
Which is a good webmail interface, that can be used in Debian 3.1 (I mean something like squirrelmail or neomail or horde, etc...)?
Is there any good howto for any of them?
Bye, RuskiCar

If you run ISPCOnfig, the easiest to install is UebiMiau. There is a pacakge that can be installed with the ISPConfig update function.
Otherwise i can recommend squirrelmail, but i dont have an howto for that.

I guess
Code:
apt-get install squirrelmail
will install Squirrelmail into Debian's default web site under /var/www. You can run
Code:
apt-cache search squirrelmail
to find the exact package name.
I don't know the URL under which Squirrelmail can be accessed then, but I guess it's either http://<default_website>/squirrelmail or http://<default_website>/webmail

Yes, I have really tried to install squirrelmail a day or two ago, but when i wanted to login using squirrelmail interface, it said that my imap server does not allow plain text logins or something like that.
Quote:
Bad request: The IMAP server is reporting that plain text logins are disabled. Using CRAM-MD5 or DIGEST-MD5 authentication instead may work.
Also, the use of TLS may allow SquirrelMail to login. Please contact your system administrator and report this error.

What can solve that problem?

OK...it works now, but I had to add a c-client.cf file to /etc/ with following:
Quote:
I accept the risk
set disable-plaintext nil
|
Is this really risky? Is there any better method?

Not really, as long as you connect from localhost to localhost.
