Default SQL error help please

hello
I am using debian etch, i have vhcs2 installed and working fine, i just upload
4 databases and set it up on vhcs2 , i imported the sql file using phpmyadmin
and saw all records in the database, when i try to access it i got an error:
(Internal server error 500) so if it is problem with sql how can i make sure
sql is running and working right ? or could it be from vhcs2 ? i don't know
where to start, those databases were working on my old server fine which
is also linux , another time i got "access denied for user 'www-data'

please any help will be appreciated.
Thanks very much in advance
