Network problem moving system disk from development system to production system

I have built a working server disk using Fedora 8 that I would like to move from a development system to a production system that has identical hardware. When booting the dev system disk in the new hardware, networking fails because the system is looking for the MAC address of the development system, not the MAC address found in the production system.

Is there a HOWTO somewhere that describes the process of migrating a disk from one system to another, or a description of the where/how ifconfig is called during the startup process?

/etc/sysconfig/networking/devices/

and

/etc/sysconfig/networking/profiles/default/
