How do I update to the the latest version of nicotine, 1.2.9? Also I was wondering is there was a way to make nicotine "close to tray."

if your OS package manager does not feature it in the official repositories maybe there are other inofficial ones or you could try to compile it on your on.

But I don't even know what distribution you are using not what nicotine is exactely
