Default wireless internet connection

I just installed ubuntu 7.10 on a laptop with a built in wireless card. I have DSL internet service and a linksys router. I am unable to access the internet with ubuntu installed. When Windows was installed, the connection was automatic. A year ago I tried one of the linux distro's and the connection was automatic. How can I access the internet?
