Default what is a remote name server and its merit

Hi

i tried googling but didnt find any useful link.

I want to know that what is a Remote Name Server and what're its merits?

I have two VPSs can I take any merit using Remote Name Server?

any links to articles or direct explanation is highly appreciated.

You need to put DNS servers (= name servers) into /etc/resolv.conf so that your system can look up domain names (e.g. convert google.com to its IP address).
