Default libapache2-mod-auth-mysql alternative

I am about to install a new server with Debian Etch.
It is supposed to replace my current server, original installed w/ Debian Sarge.

I am using the library libapache-mod-auth-mysql to authenticate users trough .htaccess against a MySQL db.

But in Sarge there is no longer libapache-mod-auth-mysql.
So what's the alternative? I would be very happy, if i could se an working example.
