Default Help with MDADM

Hello All, need some expertise on MDADM. I have a RAID 6 Array with 7 disks and one of them has failed. I have removed it from the RAID with the remove command. Normally i would replace the disk, but in this case i was wondering if i can actually reduce the array size itself. How would i do that?

For the filesystem in the Array, i can reduce it using resize2fs /dev/vg1/vz NEWVAL[KMG] command.

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.
