Default mod_fcgi or mod_fastcgi for apache2.2.3

I'm still confused about the 2 differend moduls for apache. Some say take the old mod_fastcgi other say you should take the new mod_fcgi. But what ist the realy differens and does the both work for apache2.2.3 on debian4.0?
