Just create a DNS record (A or CNAME) for ftp.example.com, and then create a web site for ftp.example.com (or make it an alias of an existing web site).

You don't need any Apache modules. ftp.example.com is a normal subdomain, just as www.example.com or sub.example.com, etc. So all you have to do is written in my previous post.
