ISPConfig is an excellent tool for managing many users across several domains , however it would be nice if that functionality also extended out to managing network authentication as well. Not necessarily constricting the set of possibilities to LDAP , what are some ways that ISPConfig could be easily used to implement network authentication?

ISPConfig uses /etc/passwd and /etc/shadow to store all account informtaion. If you use a authentication scheme in your network that is able to read the data from these files, you should be able to authenticate against the ISPConfig users.
