Fedora Core 6 hangs on installation.

Hello:

I've been attempting to install Fedora Core 6 on my desktop computer but every time I use the "live cd" that came with my book, Fedora 6 and Red Hat Enterprise Linux", the install process hangs up on the networking module install. I believe this is a hardware conflict because I used the same cd on a laptop and it worked perfectly. The following is a list of hardware in my computer:

Gigabyte GA-K8NSNXP Socket-754 Motherboard
AMD Sempron +3400 OC, 2.50Ghz
2GB Ultra Ram OC, 450Mhz
XFX Geforce 6600GT OC, Engine 540Mhz, Memory 1110Mhz.
X-FI Sound Card
75GB Sata C:
150GB Sata D:

Does anyone have any suggestions that will allow me to bypass this hick-up on my machine? I'd also like to know if there is an option to boot from my DVD drive? I looked at my CMOS but it doesn't offer that ability...only the cdrom.

You could try to download the latest Fedora Core 6 from the internet. If that doesn't help, I think you should try another distribution (e.g. Ubuntu).

I just downloaded Knoppix Live CD and my hope is it will take the place of the Live CD that came with my book so I can install Fedora Core 6 on my computer. Does it make a difference which Live CD version I use? My ultimate goal is to install Fedora Core 6 on my computer. I have the DVD for it but my computer doesn't allow me to boot from it. I was thinking of downloading the CD's individually so I could boot from them. Is there anything I need to be aware of if I go this direction?

I don't know if you can install Fedora from a Knoppix Live-CD...
