Bind9,Router and ISPconfig questions ...

Hello all,

I have a cable connection, with permission to run apache,exim,bind etc, as
I pay extra every month.

I setup ISPConfig, but may have messes up a setting or two...

I will use these settings as an example.
My wide area ip is 64.24.1.1 and the server is at 192.168.2.107
I opened all the needed ports, and forwarded them to 192.168.2.107 in the router.

First,
In management, server,settings I have the
IP Address as 192.168.2.107, now Im wondering if I need to
open /etc/network/interfaces and add 64.24.1.1
and change the server ip address

Second,
The server was set up with a domain I own but have not updated the
dns to point to it, I only did it to get through the install.
we can call it mydot.com
I called the server server1.mydot.com, thinking that the servers
domain didnt matter, as once I was comfortable with ISPConfig I would
add the virtual domain myother.com as this is the important one.
So I guess Im asking, does the servers main domain have to be "real and setup" for any other virtual domains to work ?

1) No, you dont have to add your external IP if you use a router.

You will have to use your internal IP for websites and your external IP for DNS records in the ISPConfig DNS-Manager.

2) Yes. The sever uses this domain as sender address for sending mails. If it does not exist, most mailservers will refuse the delivery of your emails.
