Our company is planning to change the current novell 6.5 file and groupwise mail server to something else system . They(the management) want a low cost but reliable solution. I said that a linux server fits well our needs. I think a well configured Debian Etch is a good choice(as Falko wrote in the The Perfect Setup - Debian Etch). The file server will be on Samba services, and the mail can be Postfix. If you think it is good option, tell me. The main question is: how can I migrate users mail from the existing Groupwise system? Thanks for your help.

I'am not familar with groupwise. To help you to find the best linux setup for a migration, I need to know how the email usernames on a novell server look like:
The username is in this format:
lastname firstname. There is a SPACE between the two names.
otherwise the email addresses looks this: firstname.lastname@domain.com
i've tried to use the fetchmail software, but it is not recognize the given username(Invalid username), i think because the space char in the username field.

If you put the username in quotes or double quotes, it might work with fetchmail.
