SUSE 9.3 is the first version of Linux I've ever used. Looking at an article on the SUSE site, it said that upgrading from one version of SUSE to the next wasn't really supported or recommended.
Do folks really start over with each new major upgrade? Or is it just that you shouldn't upgrade on-line but should use CDs instead?

Some people say they never had problems with such an upgrade, others say they screwed up their whole system...
I'd think twice before I'd do such an upgrade, especially if you're running a server in a production environment. If you're running a desktop system, you might try it, but make a backup of your important files! Maybe you have a test computer where you can test run such an upgrade?
