move Courier/ISPConfig 3 to Dovecot/ISPConfig 3 server
Hi folks,
So I have seen many articles on moving ISPConfig to a new server. But I am doing something a bit different that I am not sure will be covered by a simple move of the VMail folder.
I have an ISPC 3 server that was built with Courier. I have built a new one that is now setup with Dovecot.
Any ideas on how I can get all the mail moved over? I am pretty sure that the database dumps would be the same as well as getting the websites moved.. the mail is where I am asking for assistance.

The maildir structure, the filters and some settings are different in courier and dovecot. First migrate your server as described in the other posts and then change the mailserver type from courier to dovecot as described in this post:
Now.. if I have already jumped the gun and installed fresh with Dovecot do I need to go back and build fresh again with Courier and then migrate or can I have both for a short time ?

You dont have to install courier again, just copy over the /var/vmail folder structure and ispconfig database from your old server and then run the migration script to convert the structure from courier format to dovecot.
