Default please help with samba configuration

hi there all - installed an arm version of arch on a pogoplug. installed samba and created a shared media directory with access for everyone on the network. so far so good.
now i want password controled access as root to other folders this is what i put and it doesnt work. cant access root (tried from a win7 machine and an android tablet) - it keeps asking for password again and again
workgroup = WORKGROUP
server string = ALARM
netbios name = ALARM
security = share
load printers = no
printing = bsd
printcap name = /dev/null
disable spools = yes
log file = /var/log/samba/%m.log
max log size = 50
dns proxy = no
path = /media/videos/videos/
read only = no
public = yes
writable = yes
force user = root
path = /
read only = no
public = yes
writable = yes
guest ok = no
