Default Did you check tool in ispconfig 2012?
żthere is some tool like WHMCS but ispconfig FREE and compatible?

a friend told me yes and I'm curious to know

has an external store the customer can choose the plans while registering?

There is no shopping cart system available yet. But the billing module has a api so that you can intergarte it directly into your existing hosting website.
